about the halls
who we are
Maryhill Burgh Halls are a community-led organisation, set up by Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust. The Trust was established in 2004 by a group of local people, after demolition plans for the building had been proposed. The Regeneration Project dramatically re-imagined the spaces and has put the Halls back into the heart of the Maryhill community with the official re-opening taking place in 2012.
The reborn Halls complex is now home to Maryhill Museum which holds a collection of local historical objects and an archive. We also host temporary exhibitions and community events. The Halls is a space to display local heritage and history, host tenants, and provide spaces for events of all types. Our tenants vary from Venice of the North recording studio to George Buchanan Architects, and can all be found here.
The Burgh Halls provide many different activities and serves as a centre for the community. Besides tours of the building, we provide free walking tours of the Maryhill area, whether led or by following our printed trail guides. We have lots of activities, workshops and other chances to get involved so organise your free visit now!
Volunteers are invaluable to the running of the Halls, whether from helping out on a day to day basis through to our voluntary Board of Trustees. We work with local organisations and actively work to bring in all members of the local community. We are committed to making the Halls accessible for people of all ages, from our walking trails to our engagement activities and community events. Read our accessibility guide to the Halls here.
